Gallions and Hastoe are the first to be awarded ‘Excellence in Communities’

1 October 2010
Gallions Housing Association and Hastoe Housing Association are the only two organisations in the country to have been awarded Excellence in Communities by Quality Housing Services.
Services to their residents were judged against a comprehensive set of criteria including anti-social behaviour management, partnership working, development and regeneration and the community environment.

Both Gallions and Hastoe reached the high standards required for accreditation but will continue to work against the targets for even higher scores next time round.

Gallions’ Chief Executive, Tony Cotter, said: “Being awarded Excellence in Communities is great news. We want to be more than just a housing provider and so have invested heavily in community services and this award is recognition of the hard work our staff do. It shows that we’re heading in the right direction but we’re not resting on our laurels; we’re still striving to make improvements”.

Hastoe’s Chief Executive, Sue Chalkley, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this accreditation that recognises excellence in working with communities to meet their service expectations and help them tackle local challenges and priorities. We are committed to supporting rural communities and building on the significant contribution that affordable homes for local people can make in our villages. This award demonstrates that it is possible to work for communities even where we only have a few homes – more than anything it is the will to do this that matters.”
