Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill: what it means for you

As part of the government’s Long-Term Plan for Housing, the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill was introduced to Parliament in November 2023. Amongst other things, the aim of the Bill was to make it easier and cheaper for leaseholders in England and Wales to buy their freehold, increase standard lease extension terms to 990 years for houses and flats, and provide greater transparency over service charges.

The Bill was passed into law on 24 May 2024
