About the role
This role is responsible for reviewing, calculating and accounting for residential service charges across Hastoe’s stock, including homeowners and tenants. This role ensures that our service charges remain accurate and transparent, while driving improvements in internal processes and external communication. The role also ensures compliance with the Rent Standard.
Responsibilities will include:
- Calculating and producing projected and actual service charges for all homeownership properties under a variable service charge, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislation and lease terms.
- Liaising with Management Accounts and operational teams to ensure costs are correctly allocated at scheme, block and unit level, and reviewed regularly.
- Calculating appropriate management fees as reflected in the service charge.
- Carrying out regular reconciliations of service charge and reserve fund income, monitoring contributions and assess projected works to ensure reserve funds remain adequate.
- Performing service charge reviews for Hastoe tenants in line again with legislation and tenancy agreements.
- Supporting operational teams, including Customer Services, Housing and Home Ownership, by providing data and information for service charge queries.
- Liaising with the Rents Team on the annual rent review to ensure compliance with the Rent Standard.
About you
We are looking for a Service Charge Accountant with experience in service charge calculation and/or data analysis and review, and excellent Excel skills. You will need to be highly organised, able to work independently, build relationships across the organisation and manage competing priorities.
You will also need:
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications.
- Keen attention to detail and an understanding of how to analyse, understand problems, and improve data quality
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong problem solving skills, determination and attention to detail.
- Experience working to deadlines and maintaining accurate records and transactional data.
