Developing new homes

Hastoe is passionate about supporting rural communities through providing affordable, high-quality, sustainable homes which will be available to them in perpetuity.

We work closely with Parish Councils, Local Authorities, rural landowners and Homes England to provide a range of homes which will be forever available to those in the community who need them most.

We build homes for a mix of tenures, including affordable rent and shared ownership, as well as homes for open market sale, through our subsidiary company Lowen Homes.

Community-led approach

We understand the importance of local partnerships and engagement with all aspects of the local community to ensure that the development is a source of pride for all involved.

Our role usually begins when approached by a parish council seeking assistance. They, and the local community, are consulted at every stage of the development and are able to establish what the homes look like and how they are to be delivered. We have built our reputation on providing sensitively designed, quality homes to high environmental standards, so it is important to us that we listen carefully and respond positively to the community’s views.

A significant number of our developments are on rural exception sites, so the homes are kept affordable forvoer for people with a connection to the local area. We always give qualifying local people in housing need first priority for every home and we ensure that homes remain affordable in perpetuity.

Fabric-first sustainability

We build homes to AECB Building Standard or above and continually look for new ways to improve the design of our homes. The design of our homes incorporates the use of energy saving features such as solar panels and photovoltaic panels (PV) and we have an established development programme of innovative straw bale or Passivhaus homes.
