Supporting Village Halls Week

Hastoe supports the first ever Village Halls Week

This week marks the first ever ‘Village Halls Week’. (22 - 26 Jan)

Run by the Action with Rural Communities in England (ACRE) network, the week aims to champion and celebrate the role of community buildings at the heart of English villages.

There are 10,000 village halls in England – very often run by volunteers. Many are over 100 years old and require funding and support to keep them open for different groups, organisations, individuals and businesses.

The hashtag to promote the event is #VillageHallsWeek

Commenting on the week, Hastoe Chief Executive, Sue Chalkley, said:

“It’s fantastic ACRE has set up this week to celebrate our cherished village halls. They are the hub of so much life in rural communities and provide space for communities and businesses to operate.”

“Hastoe is passionate about providing more affordable rural homes so that villages and village halls are able to remain viable and full of life. Congratulations to ACRE on a great initiative.”
