Hastoe provides good quality, sustainable homes at reasonable costs for people with limited options in the housing market. We build homes in Southern England: some for rent and others for sale on shared ownership leases.
We intend that every application for a home will be dealt with fairly and consistently in accordance with this policy, our Equality and Diversity Policy and the Data Protection Act.
We will take all possible steps to provide equal opportunities for all people. We are opposed to discrimination on any grounds including race, religion, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, age or other unjustifiable criteria.

We believe that communities should be sustainable. To achieve sustainability in communities we aim to:
  • build new housing with a mix of sizes and tenure
  • review estate profiles every five years to review the balance of tenure, working and non working residents, old, young, black, minority ethnic and white people, families, single people and couples, and male and female heads of household
  • agree local lettings policies with local authorities
  • accept referrals or nominations from a variety of agencies
invest additional resources to support long term, sustainable tenancies
  • recognise the need for geographical mobility and the needs of those whose mobility within their homes is restricted
  • restrict child density to a maximum of 40% in any scheme. (Child density is the number of children under 16 expressed as a percentage of the total population of the scheme. 40% child density means adults outnumber children by three to two)
  • let a minimum of 10% of bed sitting room and one bedroom flats to people setting up home independently for the first time but who are at present adequately housed with their families
make between 5% and 15% of lettings available to tenants who wish to transfer due to changed circumstances which mean their homes are no longer adequate for their needs
  • let a minimum of 10% of vacancies to people with key jobs in the community
Individual applicants are visited at home before on offer is made. We reserve the right to take up references or otherwise check the information provided on application forms or at home visits.
