SHIFT shortlisting recognises Hastoe’s commitment to improving sustainability

Hastoe has been announced as a finalist for ‘Most Improved Ever SHIFT Landlord’ at the SHIFT Awards 2017.
The SHIFT Awards are the sustainability awards for the housing sector, recognising outstanding sustainability projects and achievements that have made an impact in the sector. SHIFT is an independent assessment and accreditation scheme that demonstrates how organisations are delivering against challenging environmental targets.

Hastoe’s longstanding commitment to sustainability was recognised in 2016 by achieving “SHIFT Gold” for environmental performance following its yearly SHIFT assessment.

Hastoe Chief Executive Sue Chalkley said: “We are delighted that Hastoe has been recognised as one of the top performing landlords in the shortlisting for these prestigious awards. SHIFT provides a credible benchmark for the sector and it is fantastic to have our hard work recognised.

“At Hastoe we care passionately about the environment and continually look at how we can improve the sustainability of our current homes and the new homes we build.

“Our joint commitment to the environment and to rural communities ensures that we are providing a very practical solution to rural fuel poverty, particularly for communities that are off gas and entirely dependent on oil or electricity for heating.”

Hastoe will also be helping to recognise other landlords with a clear commitment to sustainability by sponsoring this year’s SHIFT Award for ‘Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year’.

Hastoe Director of Business Development Don Barclay will also be on the judging panel for the awards. He said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the SHIFT Award for ‘Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year’.

“It’s important to remember that when we talk about sustainability and environmental performance, it’s not just some abstract ‘nice-to-have’. For Hastoe, a sustainable home means lower bills and a higher quality of life for customers – so this award is a real opportunity to celebrate the difference that housing providers can make, both to the environment and to the welfare of our residents.”

“We are passionate about building affordable homes to high environmental standards, so I look forward to hearing more from other leaders in the sector about the innovative steps they are taking to improve their environmental performance and resident wellbeing.”

The SHIFT Awards will take place in London on 30 November 2017.
