Hailsham Housing Scheme Celebrated

Hastoe Housing Association, Nusrat Ghani MP and Cllr Graham Wells of Wealden District Council have officially opened Hastoe’s new housing development on Mabel Way. The event was marked by the planting of a tree.

The development, made up of 40 new affordable homes prioritised for those with a local connection to the primary parish of Hailsham, was hosted by Hastoe on behalf of the Hailsham Town Council and Wealden District Council. The event, based on Mabel Way, was a chance for the local community and project partners to celebrate the success of the scheme.

Nusrat Ghani MP said, “It was a great pleasure to join local residents
and supporters for the opening of Mabel Way, particularly as it was the first
celebratory tree I have helped plant as an MP!

“Housing associations like this are vital for local Wealden families who want to
continue to be able to live where they have grown up, or for those looking to
downsize, and also as we welcome new residents with the skills and passion to contribute to our economy and community life.”

Business Development Director at Hastoe, Brian Carroll, said, “We are delighted to be delivering these much-needed affordable homes for local people in Hailsham. We must thank the HCA, Hailsham Town Council, and Wealden District Council for their stellar work in getting this scheme off the ground through to its completion.

“Affordable homes like these allow people who live or work in villages and
towns to continue to contribute to their communities, bring their children up
in security and see their local area thrive into the long term.”
