Hastoe breaks ground at site of second development in Wimbish

Work has started on a second development of affordable homes in the village of Wimbish, Essex, after Sir Alan Haselhurst officially ‘broke ground’ at the site on Friday 19 June.

After identifying more need for affordable housing in the area, Wimbish Parish Council invited Hastoe Housing Association back to the village after the success of the first scheme which opened in 2011. The new scheme will be made up of 11 Passivhaus homes, 8 for affordable rent and 3 for open market sale, and is due to be completed in July 2016.

Sir Alan Haselhurst, MP for Saffron Walden, said:

“I’m glad to see work beginning on the much-needed new homes in Wimbish. More housing is always needed in rural areas and it’s comforting to know that the 8 affordable homes being built here will go to people with a strong connection to the local area.”

Kevin Hartnett, Business Development Director for Hastoe, added:

“I’m very grateful to Sir Alan for breaking ground at our new scheme in Wimbish today. We were delighted to be invited back by the parish council and it’s a great testament to the quality of our homes.

“I look forward to asking Sir Alan back next year to open the 11 new homes and to see them occupied by the local people that need them.”
