Hastoe supports Village Survival Guide

Hastoe is proud to support and contribute to the Prince's Countryside Fund Village Survival Guide

Released as part of Countryside Week 2019, the Guide gives practical advice on how rural communities can be more sustainable and ensure their long-term future.

Hastoe contributed to the affordable housing section of the Guide. We provided a case study on our scheme in the village of Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, where 13 homes (nine affordable and four open market, were built on a rural exception site to Passivhaus standard.

Passivhaus is a highly energy-efficient building technique that reduces fuel bills to as little as £130 per year. High energy efficiency is especially important in rural areas where fuel poverty is higher and more communities are off the gas grid. It helps keep more money in the pockets of residents and reduces fuel poverty.
