Hastoe on BBC Countryfile

Hastoe's scheme 'IMBY Close' in Wiltshire featured on BBC Countryfile in a feature on rural affordable housing

Hastoe homes at IMBY Close, Wiltshire, featured on a piece on BBC Countryfile on 18 November 2018 on affordable rural housing.

Presenter Charlotte Smith met local landowner, Mrs Jill Russell, who worked with Hastoe in the early 1990s to build 6 new affordable homes in the village of Sutton Veny, Wiltshire. Mrs Russell's husband asked to call the new development IMBY (In My Back Yard) Close to celebrate the fact the community was being proactive to support new affordable homes in the village.

Countryfile also interviewed Hastoe Land and New Business Manager, Karen Hillhouse, who explained how Rural Excepion Sites, where land is released for affordable housing on condition the homes are affordable and reserved for local people forever, can help to provide new homes in Rural England. As the film states, Hastoe has built more that 46 rural exception sites across southern England in the last five years.
