Hastoe signs 'Make a Stand' Pledge

Hastoe signs the 'Make a Stand' pledge to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

Hastoe has signed up to the ‘Make a Stand’ pledge on tackling domestic violence.

The pledge has been developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing, in partnership with Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance. It encourage housing organisations to meet four commitments to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

The four promises are:

1. Put in place and embed a policy to support residents who are affected by domestic abuse.

2. Make information about national and local domestic abuse support services available on your website and in other appropriate places so that they are easily accessible for residents and staff.

3. Put in place an HR policy, or amend an existing policy, to support members of staff who may be experiencing domestic abuse.

4. Appoint a champion at a senior level in your organisation to own the activity you are doing to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

Hastoe has committed to completing these four promises by September 2019. Hastoe Operations Director, Anne McLoughlin, will be leading Hastoe’s work to meet the pledge.

Anne said:

Millions of people experience domestic abuse every year and two women are killed by their partner or ex-partner every week. Having already strengthened our some of our housing policies to provide additional protection for those fleeing domestic abuse this pledge will help us advance further support for survivors – whether they are residents or staff”.

“I am committed to ensuring Hastoe meets the four promises by September 2019. A big thanks must go to Alison Inman at the CIH for her inspirational leadership on tackling domestic abuse in the housing sector and making this pledge a reality.”
