Government Housing Design Conference

Hastoe Chief Executive, Sue Chalkley, spoke at the Government's first ever national Housing Design Quality Conference at the Institute for Engineering and Technology.

Speaking in the Ingredients for Success session, Sue spoke about the importance of quality design, sympathetic to the local vernacular, in boosting support for new housing.

She encouraged the Government to be bold in the use of Passivhaus - the highly energy-efficienct standard that can cut fuel bills to as little as £125 per year. She also called on Ministers to give more power to local communities in picking their developer, in order to boost housing quality and standards.

Also speaking at the event were the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid, and the Housing Minister, Dominic Raab. Full details on the conference can be found here.
