Advice for Asylum Seekers & Refugees

If you are an asylum seeker, refugee or someone acting on their behalf, you will find the following agencies are able to offer advice and support.

National Asylum & Support Service
The Home Office has the duty to provide assistance to asylum seekers through the National Asylum Support Service (NASS).

NASS support usually includes a weekly cash installment for basic essentials such as:

• Food, toiletries, and clothing
• Housing
• Help with asylum application costs (but not legal expenses)
• Maternity payments, including a milk allowance and a one-off maternity payment.

Local Authorities administer the various benefits asylum seekers are entitled to and also make provisions for temporary accommodation.
