We operate in 56 local authority areas across the south of England and have an excellent reputation as a specialist rural housing provider. We also have broader experience, with more than half our stock in towns, including three London boroughs.

Our commitment to environmentally sustainable development is supported by the evidence: in 2007/08, 46 of our new homes met the EcoHomes ‘excellent’ standard. Many of our developments are on rural exception sites, carefully selected with the help and expertise of our local authority partners, and often provided by local landowners or charitable trusts.
The organisation has a strong history of innovation and this remains a strong feature of the Hastoe identity. We are driven by finding new solutions and have a Research and Development budget to support this work. Hastoe, for example, sponsored the Page Report (proposed mixed tenures as a feature of sustainable communities) and the Ecohomes XB model (a sector tool for assessing sustainability within existing stock).
Hastoe’s Rural Resource Unit seeks innovative solutions in the rural context producing,
with funding from the Housing Corporation, the
"Ways to finance land and rural housing schemes with little or no Social Housing Grant" report. The full report can be downloaded via our

Sustainable Homes Ltd, provides training and consultancy services to the housing sector. This newly trading commercial company further establishes Hastoe’s commitment to driving environmental sustainability and will cross subsidise the Group’s activities.
