We have recently re-launched the Regional Committees in all regions. We want you to get involved and help shape Hastoe’s activities and decision making. Having more resident members involved is key to keeping the Committee focused on the differing needs of our residents in the region. We also welcome independent members.
There are new and enhanced terms of reference which describe the purpose of the committee, who can take part as well as what goals should be achieved and how they will be fulfilled.
Main Responsibilities
The main role of the Committee is to represent the views and needs of residents in the region and to encourage resident involvement in Hastoe activities.
The Regional Committee is a formal sub-committee of the Hastoe Board and reports back to the Board regularly on its activities, which include:
• Monitoring the performance of the regional team
• Monitoring the regional development programme and advising on local priorities
• Approving and monitoring budgets for estate improvements and resident involvement activities
• Overseeing the action plans for community strategies in the region
• Engaging in reviews of policies and procedures
The full terms of reference can be found to the right of this page under ‘Relevant Documents’.
Membership
There are 15 members in total with a minimum of 3 resident members. The Chair of the Committee is Nick Lear, who is a member of the Hastoe Board. You can read more about the Board Members by clicking on the link to the right called ‘Related Pages’.
In addition to resident and staff members we have independent members with an interest in social housing and relevant expertise, such as planning experience or knowledge of local authority housing policy.
Meetings
The Committee meets four times a year at the regional office in Little Chesterfor d. Meetings are generally held during the day, and last for around two hours. In addition, members are invited and encouraged to attend occasional training sessions, and may be asked to represent the Committee by taking part in or attending events like scheme openings.
Vacancies
Whether you are a resident or have an independent interest, we would be delighted to hear from you if you think you would like to be involved. The posts are unpaid, but we do pay travel expenses and can subsidise child and other care costs where appropriate.
