We are currently carrying out a major retrofit of 4, Gaymer Memorial Cottage in Attleborough, Norfolk, after winning £150,000 from the Government's Technology Strategy Board to test low carbon technologies. Improvements to the 1940's cottage include increased levels of insulation and an air source heat pump, and aim to reduce carbon emissions by 90%. Hastoe is a leading innovator in sustainable development, driving high environmental standards in our new build housing. We achieved a bronze ranking in the inaugural Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (
SHIFT) sustainability assessment scheme in 2008 and after submitting for a second time in 2010, have just been awarded Silver!
We are currently building the first rural accredited Passivhaus development in the UK and have one of the UK's largest contracts for heat pump technology. We are also currently planning on how best to retrofit our existing homes to improve their impacts on the environment.
We are mainstreaming sustainability across all of our activities and have developed a
Greening Hastoe Policy and
Strategy, which sets out Hastoe’s aspirations for achieving improved environmental sustainability across all business activities, including our existing housing stock, business premises, office processes and residents’ lifestyles.
